The superhero movie is tracking toward an opening weekend of $90 million or more, which would break the record for an April release.
Noah ($16 million) and Divergent ($13 million) are expected to finish in second and third place, respectively.
In the # spot is God’s Not Dead at an estimated $8 million, ahead of The Grand Budapest Hotel ($6.5 million) and Muppets Most Wanted ($6 million).
Mr. Peabody and Sherman is on pace for $5 million and seventh place.
The Arnold Schwarzenegger action film Sabotage and the Liam Neeson action film Non-Stop are both projected to earn about $2 million, just ahead of the comedy Bad Words.
